Second Straight Sweep

The Eagles polished off another sweep in Hawaii, taking down Hawaii Hilo on Saturday night.

HILO, Hawaii --- Back-to-back wins capped off the week for Biola (15-9, 12-5 PacWest), as the BU volleyball squad picked up a win Saturday night against Hawaii Hilo (2-20, 2-14 PacWest). The clean sweep moved the Eagles to 12-5 in PacWest play and 15-9 overall this season.

Biola showed their strength and advantage in every statistical category. Beyond scoring more points, 37 kills, five aces, and 33 assists from BU outpaced the hosting Vulcans by wide margins in each stat. Despite 23 less attack attempts, the Eagles still landed eight more kills than UHH.

The BU attack was consistent and efficient throughout the night on Saturday. The team compiled double-digit kills in each set, while maintaining above a .416 hitting percentage in the match.

A seven-point run in the first set, really opened up a strong game for BU. The streak of points for the visitors saw a bit of everything, including an ace, two kills, two blocks and four total attack errors from UHH.

Biola put together three runs of at least four points in the third set to rout the Vulcans, 25-11.

The defensive party at the net featured five Eagles recording at least one block. The team logged seven, while Gracie Guy and Abigail Copeland each nabbed three of their own.

Bri Bellfi finished her first three career matches in Hawaii averaging 4.0 digs in all three contests.

Once again, Madison Beebe paced the offense, grabbing 11 kills on 25 attempts. The senior posted a .400 hitting percentage with only one error on the night. Abby Brewster and Guy added efficient performances with hitting percentages of .667 and .714, respectively.

Biola will return home for its next matchup, facing Academy of Art on Friday at 5:00 pm.
