IRVINE, Calif.--- Basketball season is nearly upon us and the time has come for the annual PacWest Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Poll voted on by the conference's coaches.

The conference favorite was Azusa Pacific who received 119 points. Dominican was voted to finish in second (94) followed by Concordia (91), Biola (83), Point Loma (82), Academy of Art (66), Fresno Pacific (56), UH Hilo (56), Hawai'i Pacific (36), Chaminade (29), and Holy Names (14). 

Biola is predicted to end a slot higher this year than their 2021-22 PacWest Conference Championships finish. The 2021-22 crew placed fifth in the conference tournament and capped the year with a winning record of 18-11 overall and 13-7 PacWest. 

"This season PacWest Women's Basketball is going to be as tough as always," stated head coach Alan Nakamura. "It looks like every program added talented recruits to an already strong conference. Our team is doing an excellent job of working together to get ready for the tough schedule ahead of us. We are going to have to be well-prepared, unified, and strong minded to compete well as every game will present a difficult challenge."

In 2022-23, the Eagles have 30 games mapped out on their schedule, including two exhibition games to start off the year against Division I opponents: CSU Bakersfield and the University of San Diego.

Their first exhibition contest is against CSU Bakersfield on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 12 p.m. at the Icardo Center.

After the women complete their exhibition contests, BU will face a handful of non-conference opponents and then begin conference play on Thursday, Dec. 1 against Fresno Pacific in the Special Events Center.
