Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Billi Derleth, Assistant Sports Information Director

Closely Fought

The men’s soccer team played a closely fought match against Point Loma that resulted in a draw.

LA MIRADA--- The Biola University Men's Soccer team tied visiting Point Loma Wednesday night at Al Barbour Field in an intense matchup.

The first frame was closely fought between the Eagles and Sea Lions. Biola played a tight defensive half where PLNU had seven shots to BU's two. JD Gunn made two saves for the Eagles to keep the game locked, 0-0.

A scoreless first half led to an even more intense second where both teams were firing on all cylinders.

Each team had a couple close-call shots, but neither team could seem to find the net. Stellar defensive performances by both teams kept the other honest.

Izaac Zausch, Haiko Hovak, Nathan Kolvacik, and Jakob Schnitzer recorded 90 minutes of action as members of the Eagles' defensive wall that assisted Gunn in fending off any PLNU attacks.

Gunn made three more difficult saves in the final frame, recording five total in the night.

The Sea Lions' goalkeeper was also forced to put in some work, making two nice saves in the second half.

The Eagles nearly pulled off a goal with 10 seconds on the clock, but the shot by Aidan Hill was just high of PLNU's goal.

Biola (4-3-4, 3-0-1 PacWest) holds their undefeated status in conference play. The Eagles play next on Saturday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m. against the Concordia Golden Eagles.
