Strong Second Half

The men’s soccer team showcased a strong second half where they tied Concordia 2-2.

IRVINE, Calif.---The Biola Men's Soccer Team showcased their resiliency against Concordia Sunday afternoon at Eagles Field, forcing a 2-2 tie in the second half.

The Golden Eagles pulled ahead in the first half with a 2-0 lead. CUI scored early in the 6th minute and then again in the 32nd minute.

Biola received the opportunity they needed after the break. A foul on Klaus Huovila resulted in a penalty kick opportunity for the Eagles. Theo Le Calve was chosen to take the kick which resulted in BU's first goal, 2-1.

The Eagles, trailing by one, had 17 minutes left of regulation. CUI and BU would go back-and-forth until the 85th minute where Biola would come together to score the game-tying goal.

Aidan Hill fed a good ball to Kristian Colaci who knocked in the Eagles' second goal (2-2).

"We have a team of fighters and we are difficult to beat," elaborated head coach Joey O'Keefe. "In the first half we conceded two goals that I don't think we concede on any other day. Our team came out with a fire and passion in the second half that proved their commitment to each other. I couldn't be more proud of our effort throughout the entire 90 minutes, but the second half was exceptional. The senior class has shown great leadership this season and I expect them to carry us through the remainder of the season."

Senior JD Gunn made one save in the tight matchup.

Biola remains undefeated in the PacWest Conference (3-0-2). The Eagles play Azusa Pacific next on Wednesday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m.
