LA MIRADA---Biola University Athletics is thrilled to announce and welcome newest assistant baseball coach Riley Conlan to the Eagles athletics staff.
"I am really excited to add Riley to our staff," exclaimed head coach Jesse Rodgers. "He is a great fit for us in so many ways. Riley aligns with Biola's mission, creates great relationships with players, and has a ton of baseball knowledge in so many aspects of the game. Specifically his knowledge of the catching position and on the offensive side will help to round out what we really needed on the staff. I am thrilled to work with Riley both on and off the field!"
Conlan has an extensive baseball background from being a collegiate student-athlete to coaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels.
Conlan's career as a college student-athlete began at Moorpark Junior College where he received his associate's degree in kinesiology. While playing for the Raider's Colan received honors such as First Team All-State, First Team All-SoCal, First Team All-WSC, Athlete of the Year and Scholar-Athlete honors.
Conlan continued to pursue collegiate baseball at Division I Cal State NorthRidge where he averaged .275 in the batter's box with 64 hits, including five homers.
After graduating from CSUN with his bachelor's in communication studies Conlan played a season of international ball for the Carine Cats Baseball Club in Western Australia where he was named a State League Player.
When he finished playing, his coaching journey began as a Calabasas High School hitting and catching coach. In that same year he was also a collegiate level summer ball coach for the Arroyo Seco Saints. In the next season, he began as an assistant coach at Vanguard University where he completed various tasks including but limited to coordinating travel plans and budgets, content creation for social media platforms, along with his field work with infielders, outfielders, catches, and hitters.
"I am incredibly humbled and honored to be a part of the Biola family," said Conlan. "I look forward to contributing to the program's success and working with a talented group of student-athletes. This is an amazing opportunity for me to grow in both baseball and in faith. I'd like to thank Jesse Rodgers, Quentin McGrath, and Luke Mattson for welcoming me into such a talented and cohesive staff."
