September 20, 2021

IRVINE, Calif. --- The Eagles and Anna Boyer faced 43 shots last week and only allowed one goal. The strong showings helped Boyer pick up a PacWest Defender of the Week honor, as announced on Monday.

Biola went 1-1 last week, taking down Cal State Los Angeles at home, before falling to the 2019 NCAA West Region Champs Western Washington. Boyer played an integral role for Biola on the week, leading to her second PacWest of the Week honor of 2021.

BU keeper Boyer notched the shutout victory against the Golden Eagles on Tuesday. CSULA launched 20 shots towards the net but Boyer stopped seven that were sent on-target. The save total matched the sophomore's career-high, which she set in the season-opener against Stanislaus State.

The Colbert, Washington native followed up the clean sheet performance with another stellar showing in a tough matchup. The Vikings were relentless on the attack, compiling 23 shots against BU. Of the six shots on-goal, Boyer nabbed five saves to limit the damage from the reigning NCAA DII National Runner-Ups.

Through five matches of 2021, Boyer boasts a 92.9 save percentage and a league-leading 0.47 goals-against average. The goalkeeper also collected her 26th save of the year on Saturday to average 5.2 saves per match on the season.

Biola will be back in action on Saturday with a non-conference home contest against Concordia.
