BU Tabbed as Number Four

The PacWest revealed its preseason picks for the women’s soccer 2021 season, ranking BU fourth and naming Katelyn Penner to the All-PacWest team.

August 31, 2021

IRVINE, Calif. --- The women's soccer preseason rankings from the PacWest were announced on Tuesday, placing the Biola Eagles fourth on the list of eleven teams. Katelyn Penner drew an individual honor as a Preseason All-PacWest selection.

The Erin Brunelle led Eagles pulled in 88 points in the preseason vote, ranking fourth in the conference. The BU team followed Azusa Pacific by two points, who trailed only Concordia and PacWest-favorite Point Loma.

The Eagles are coming off a shortened 2020 season, in which they went an even 2-2. A 3-1 win over second-ranked Concordia gave Biola its first victory last year.

BU's impact player in the midfield, Penner, added to her vast collection of accolades from the PacWest on Tuesday. The Preseason All-PacWest nod was just another tally to the three-time All-PacWest award-winner.

Penner logged every minute on the pitch for BU in the four matches of last season. Of the team's five goals through its two wins, Penner tacked on two of those scores for the Eagles.

Biola is set to begin its regular season home opener on Thursday at 1:00 pm against Stanislaus State.
