IRVINE, Calif --- RobertAnthony Cruz and Alex Wright flourished in the 2020-21 season, succeeding in their respective sport and in the classroom. The pair of standouts were selected as PacWest Scholar-Athletes of the Year, as voted on by the PacWest's Sports Information Directors.

Wright helped make history for the Biola men's basketball squad in the 2020-21 season, as the team advanced into the NCAA Division II National Tournament for the first time in school history. The 6-5 guard earned a National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District award, after offering an all-around effort in the season, averaging 16.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

Majoring in business administration, Wright notched a 3.82 cumulative GPA in the midst of his third year at Biola. The multi-faceted athlete was tabbed to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in May.

Biola was one of only four schools with multiple athletes recognized in the announcement. Two total selections matched its previous total from the 2019-2020 season.
