All Systems Go

The wait is over, as the Biola men’s water polo team will jump in the pool for its inaugural season.

July 23, 2021

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The much anticipated arrival of men's water polo at Biola is set for its official start in 2021 on September 4. Head Coach Rick Nordell and the team are ready to tackle the upcoming year despite tough competition.

The full 2021 schedule includes three tournaments and a round robin with five home games and matches against three top-10 and two receiving votes opponents.

Action kicks off at the Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego on September 4 and 5. The group of teams in attendance will be a strong challenge for BU's opening weekend.

Biola's home opener is set for September 15, as the Eagles battle against Westcliff. BU will hold its home matches at the Splash Aquatic Center in La Mirada.

Next up for Biola is its first conference matchup, as they are a part of the Western Water Polo Association. UC San Diego will be their first conference contest at home, before battling RV Santa Clara and RV Fresno Pacific in back-to-back road competitions.

Reigning WWPA champions, No. 6 California Baptist, provide another test for the Eagles. The two teams will meet on September 30 right here in La Mirada.

The remaining schedule does not ease up very much with bouts against No. 7 Loyola Marymount (Oct. 16) and No. 8 Air Force (Nov. 5).

The WWPA tournament is a three day ordeal that is slated to begin on November 19. The crucial conference tourney will be held in Davis, California at the Schaal Aquatics Center.

Stellar play in the regular season and success in the conference postseason tourney could allow the Eagles to reach the National Collegiate Men's Water Polo Opening Round, which is set to start on November 27.
