Let the Good Times Roll

The BU volleyball squad is vying for a historic 2021 campaign, as the team builds off momentum from the 2020 season.

July 22, 2021

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The Eagles maintain a six-match winning streak, as they look toward their 2021 slate. The reigning PacWest SoCal Pod Champions will look to continue the dominant play with the full 30-match schedule this season.

A rematch of the 2020 season finale will kick off the 2021 campaign. Biola will make the trip to battle Azusa Pacific in a scrimmage on August 23 to open the season for BU.

An Alumni match comes next, preceding a UAA Invitational with Alaska Anchorage hosting a series of four games for the Eagles. BU takes the court against the host Sea Wolves on August 2 and then moves on to face Alaska Fairbanks on August 3. The tourney wraps up with bouts against Texas A&M International and University of Indianapolis.

BU remains in the northwest with another tournament in early September. In this tourney, Seattle Pacific shares its courts for four Biola matches. The Eagles take on Seattle Pacific (Sept. 9) in their first contest, followed by matches against Simon Fraser (Sept. 10), Western Oregon (Sept. 11) and Central Washington (Sept. 11).

The remaining schedule features 21 PacWest contests, including 10 home matches in Chase Gymnasium and 11 road competitions.

The Eagles have another significant road venture when they travel to Hawaii for four competitions. The team is set to play Hawaii Hilo in back-to-back matches on October 6, before battling Hawaii Pacfiic (Oct. 8) and Chaminade (Oct. 9).

A seven-match homestand brings the squad back to its comfort zone in Chase Gymnasium. BU will take on a combination of Northern California and Hawaii PacWest foes from October 21 through November 6 on their home court.

The regular season finale knots the Eagles against Point Loma at home on November 20 with hopes of advancing into the NCAA DII Tournament. Postseason play is slated to begin with west regional championships on December 2 with the winner qualifying for the NCAA DII Finals which starts on December 9.
