Cruz & Kindreich were named to the D2CCA All-West Region First Team.

May 26, 2021

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- RobertAnthony Cruz and Larson Kindreich continue to haul in postseason honors for Biola Baseball. The duo earned D2CCA All-West Region First Team selection as announced Wednesday.

Cruz was named to the D2CCA All-West Region First Team as a utility player. The Riverside native led the Eagles in batting average, hitting .388 in 116 at bats. In 31 games, the senior tallied 45 hits with 18 extra base hits.

Power was on full display for Cruz this season as he hit 11 homeruns while hitting a career high three homeruns at Eagles Diamond against Concordia on April 2, 2021.

For the majority of his time at Biola, Cruz started at second base. His athleticism proved to be an asset for Calhoon and he eventually saw playing time in the outfield as well as at first base.

The D2CCA All-West Region selection gives Cruz three postseason honors as the senior was named to the All-PacWest First Team as well as the NCBWA First Team.

Larson Kindreich was also named to the D2CCA All-West Region First Team as one of three starting pitchers selected to the team. In 54 innings, Kindreich struck-out 79 batters while turning a 5-2 record in nine starts for BU.

After a rocky start to the season that saw Kindreich surrender eight earned runs in only four innings, the junior returned to form and posted solid numbers for the Eagles. Kindreich proved to be an ace for Biola for the remainder of the season.

Kindreich tied his collegiate best of 15 strikeouts against Concordia while pitching seven innings twice in the 2021 season. Kindreich did an excellent job of keeping hitters off balance as batters only hit .217 against the 6'4 lefty.

The lefty earned PacWest Pitcher of the Week honors twice in the 2021 season while adding multiple postseason accolades to his list of accomplishments. Kindreich was selected to the All-PacWest First Team as well as the NCBWA All-Region Second Team.
