IRVINE, Calif. --- Junior second baseman, RobertAnthony Cruz was named PacWest Baseball Player of the Week as announced Monday afternoon. Cruz was a standout for BU Baseball this past week in four games against Concordia, leading the Eagles to split the Battle of the Eagles four-game series.

Cruz started at second base in all four games against CUI during the Battle of the Eagles. He didn't take long to get going. In his first at bat the junior launched a two-run homer over the right field wall to give Biola the early advantage. In the bottom of the third, teammate Jacob Portaro hit a homer of his own. Cruz would not be outdone and proceeded to hit his second homerun of the day, a solo shot to right, in just as many at bats. Cruz was retired for the first time in the bottom of the fifth by grounding out to second base. In the bottom of the seventh BU had a 7-0 lead, that didn't stop Cruz from going long yet again on the first pitch of the at bat. Cruz launched his third missile of the day over the centerfield wall, driving in two and improving to 3-4 with 3 longshots.

In game two against CUI, Cruz doubled down the right field line driving in Ben Smith. Although he did not record a hit in his second at bat, Cruz reached on an error by the shortstop in the third. In the bottom of the seventh in a one-run game, Cruz was intentionally walked, setting up the walk-off hit by Ryan Gallegos.

On Saturday, Biola faced CUI for two more games in Irvine. Cruz reached on an error and advanced to third in his first turn at the plate. Although no official at bat, the hustle by the second baseman and an error by CUI drove in BU's first run of the day. In the top of the sixth Cruz reached on an infield single and eventually came around to score. Cruz added another single to his line in the top of the seventh driving in Tyler White. In his final at bat Cruz launched a two-run homerun down the right field line.

In the final game of the Battle of the Eagles, Cruz went 3-4 with a single in his first at bat, a double in his second and another single in his third. Cruz finished the series 10-16 while driving in ten, scoring seven times, hitting 2 extra base hits and most notability four homeruns.
