IRVINE, Calif. --- Domination was the order of the day as Biola Men's Swimming & Diving closed out its first Pacific Collegiate Swimming & Diving Championship. Biola earned 957 points over the three days of swims to run away with the title over second-place Concordia Irvine (618 points).

The Eagles had 10 podium finishes on this final day, including three event wins, culminating with a win and school record in the meet's final event, the 400-freestyle relay. Tanner Smith, Matthew Trejo, Jonas Huckabay and Patrick Waggoner were the swimmers who recorded a 3:01.94 in the relay to beat Fresno Pacific by three seconds and lock in the championship.

Waggoner was fantastic all meet long, tying with FPU's Iskender Baslakov to lead all men with 60 points earned.

He got 20 of those points in the Eagles' premier individual event of the day, the 200-butterfly. Waggoner went 1:50.93 to set a new school record and win the conference title. He led a group that took each of the top-4 spots for Biola. Matthew Trejo (1:51.94), Michael Maurer (1:54.29) and Dylan Pon (1:57.03) followed right behind Waggoner.

James Gamette also etched his name into the Biola record book on Friday. He went 2:05.58 in the 200-breaststroke to break Raymond Kam's school record and finish just off the podium in fourth. Biola again piled on the points with a 4-5-6 finish in the 200-breaststroke. Nathan Schwantes (2:07.62) and Noah Benson (2:07.85) were behind Gamette there.

Biola had two men land on the podium in the 200-backstroke as Jackson Black placed second with a career-best time of 1:52.31. Smith was third with a 1:53.06, which was also a career-best. Clayton Owens also got big points for his team with a fourth-place 1:53.24.

The distance events were friendly to the Eagles as well, with two men on the podium in both the 1,650-freestyle and 1,000-freestyle. Gabe Weber won the 1,000-free with a 9:38.17 and was joined on the podium by Michael Maurer's third-place swim of 9:55.74. In the longer event (1,650-freestyle) Colin Snyder placed second (16:57.23) and Westin Dawe third (17:00.68).

Dawe added 16 swimming points to his strong diving showing of two runner-up finishes.

Biola set seven new school records, won seven events and had 23 total podiums over the course of its three-day trek to the championship. The team's previous top finish at the PCSC Championship meet was third-place (2020).
