BU Wraps Up Action at Franson Classic

Day two of the Franson Classic offered strong performances from the Eagles.

AZUSA, Calif. --- Biola completed the Franson Classic on Saturday, as the team collected many great outings for the weekend competition.

Chase Williams offered a pair of strong performances, running in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. The freshman posted a personal best in the 200-meter race, notching seventh place and a blazing time of 21.95.

A 10.76 mark in the 100-meter dash put Williams in ninth place on the day. Troy Yarter also participated in the event for the first time in his career at Biola, logging a time of 11.55, while winning his heat.

Yarter added to his Saturday with a 6.16m long jump and a 12.40m triple jump. The sophomore grabbed third place in both events, while matching his career-best in the long jump.

Mathias Davis led the Eagles in the 400-meter dash, posting a personal best time of 48.90. The strong showing helped Davis crack the top-10 in the event. Jahquez Durham and Trevor Hormel also competed in the 400-meter dash, offering times of 49.88 and 50.82, respectively.

Nathaniel Estrada came in second place in the 800-meter dash, shaving off nearly three seconds from his career-best for a 1:53.87 finish. Aidan Arredondo followed closely in fourth place, posting a personal-best as well with a time of 1:56.99.

Through two hurdles events, Christian Lukens logged solid showings. The freshman hurdler crushed his previous personal-bests with times of 16.76 in the 110-meter hurdles and 59.03 in the 400-meter hurdles. Justin Conklin and Alex White competed as well, with Conklin finishing at 15.34 in the 110-meter hurdles and White ending at 1:02.73 in the 400-meter hurdles.

All three competitors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase were from Biola. Charles Bailey grabbed the top spot at 10:22.44, followed by Aden Wiebers at 10:57.54 and wrapped up by Nathan Vallejo at 11:35.24.

Joshua Ng started the day for the field events at Azusa, logging a 3.81m mark in the pole vault. Andrew Anderson carried the torch for the throws, landing a 10.51m shot put and a 24.54m hammer throw at Biola.

BU competitors filled the field for the long jump and the triple jump. Joshua Jackson led the way in the long jump with a personal-best 6.45m mark. Jackson grabbed second in the triple jump behind Gabriel Igbokwe, who notched a 14.01m jump.

Biola will be back in action at the Bryan Clay Invite at Azusa Pacific on Friday.
