Eagles Nearly Perfect in Win

BU women’s tennis collected a comfortable weekend victory, blanking Colorado Mesa, 7-0.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The Eagles were ready for battle on Saturday, barely giving up an inch against the visiting Colorado Mesa Mavericks. Five-of-six singles matches ended in straight-sets with eight-of-nine matches and all seven points favoring Biola.

The first two flights for doubles completed in similar fashion, 6-2, to give Biola the first point of the day. Lilly McNeill and Brooke Fager continued to look untouchable as a duo, improving their record on the season to 7-1 with four-straight wins.

Colbeyshae Emery logged her fifth singles win of the year, defeating Maike Waldburger in the No. 1 spot. Mary Brascia followed for BU's third point of the day, securing her sixth-straight singles triumph.

Brooke Fager provided the match-clinching win from the No. 3 spot, posting convincing 6-1 and 6-2 set victories. The dominant performance from BU marked the fourth time this season that the Eagles swept its opponent.

"We are playing with a lot of confidence and it shows when they step out on the court," said head coach David Goodman.

Adding an impressive scoreline from the No. 5 spot, McNeill refused to let her opponent onto the scoreboard, while winning in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).

Following the strong win, the Eagles moved to 6-2 on the season and will return to the Biola Tennis Center on Monday in a match against Fresno Pacific.
