No. 9 APU Overcomes Eagles

BU came up short against the Cougars, 5-2, in a road matchup on Saturday.

AZUSA, Calif. --- Biola traveled to Azusa on Saturday with a big matchup against the ninth-ranked Azusa Pacific Cougars. The BU squad fought hard but had its winning streak halted with a 5-2 loss.

Mary Brascia highlighted the day for Biola, logging her 10th-consecutive singles victory. The sophomore made quick work of her matchup, finishing second from the No. 5 spot. A 6-2, 6-4 win for Brascia marked the 11th straight-sets triumph for her this season.

The second point came in from Colbeyshae Emery, who eked out of set number one with a 7-6 edge. Halfway through the second set, Emery picked up the victory for BU, winning by retirement. A win on Saturday improved the Ventura, California native's record on the year to 11-1.

The ninth-ranked Cougars clinched the match from the No. 2 spot, going up 4-1 on the day. The two teams played out the remainder of the matches, leading to the 5-2 final score.

Biola will look to start a new winning streak with a home match next Saturday against Point Loma.
