Austin Blanks Dominican

Austin dominated from the circle on Saturday, tossing a shutout for a 4-0 Eagles victory.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola logged its fourth-straight win in game one of Saturday's doubleheader against Dominican. The Eagles blanked the Penguins, 4-0, thanks to a shutout effort from Paige Austin.

The junior righty had great command on the rubber in her fifth complete game and first shutout of the season. An impressive arsenal helped Austin collect 10 strikeouts, reaching double-digit whiffs in back-to-back appearances.

On the day, Austin gave up just three hits with all three reaching base by way of a single. No runner made it into scoring position, as Austin improved to average an incredible 0.85 walks plus hits per inning on the year.

Two hits was all the Eagles needed in the opening inning of the contest to grab a 2-0 lead. Two walks and a single loaded the bases, setting up Raylene Roybal for a prime opportunity. The designated player ripped the third pitch of the at bat to left center, notching a two-RBI double.

Efficiency remained key for Biola, as the BU squad added two more runs in the sixth inning on just one hit. Kayla Neff stepped up for the big hit, lining a single to left field to bring in Madison Blossey and Kylie Velasco to extend BU's lead to 4-0.

Neff put together a great performance at the dish for BU, going two-for-three for her fourth multi-hit effort this season. The catcher also tacked on another game to her hitting streak for seven straight.

Jennifer Morinishi and Raylene Roybal continued their hot hitting with both batters logging a pair of base hits. Over the last four games, Morinishi has collected seven hits and a .548 batting average.

Austin's fourth win from the circle improved BU's season record to 8-7 in game one of Saturday's doubleheader. Game two is currently in progress. Follow the live stats here - LIVE STATS
