Eagles Sweep Dominican in Comfortable Victory

BU Women’s Tennis was dominant on Tuesday, collecting a 7-0 road win against the Penguins.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - The Biola Eagles took control early and never gave up an inch, posting their third-straight road triumph on Tuesday. BU (5-2) relinquished just one set on the day, defeating Dominican University of California(1-4), 7-0.

The second flight of the doubles matches wrapped up first with a 6-0 win from Lilly McNeill and Brooke Fager. Amelia Kitts and Gaby Carvajal followed up with a strong showing to secure the doubles point for BU, winning 6-1.

Colbeyshae Emery notched Biola's second point of the day from the No. 1 spot, overcoming Kaitlyn Nguyen from DUC in straight-sets (6-2, 6-0). From the No. 6 spot, Ines Diaz also cruised in her matchup, giving up one game through a two-set victory.

The clinching fourth point for the Eagles came in from Mary Brascia, nabbing a 6-1 win in the first set and a 6-2 win in set number two. The sophomore extended her recent winning streak to four-consecutive singles matches with the excellent showing on Tuesday.

The final three singles matches were all completed and resulted in favor of Biola, contributing to the 7-0 afternoon final score. McNeill logged her fifth victory of the season in the last match of the day, improving her season mark to 5-1 overall.

The Eagles will look to continue their winning ways on Saturday in a home competition against Colorado Mesa.
