Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

The Streak Continues..

The Eagles extended their win streak to seven straight with a clinch decision against WNMU.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Women's Tennis continues their hot streak as they took down Western New Mexico University at the Biola Tennis Center today. With the win, BU improves to 9-2 on the season and their seven game win streak lives to see another match. As both teams played to clinch the match today, there were a few matches that went unfinished.

Head Coach David Goodman likes what he sees from this BU Women's Tennis lineup. "We have been playing rock solid doubles as a team this year," said Goodman.

Although he has enjoyed watching the Eagles' seven game win streak, Goodman seems to be more impressed with how his team continues to develop and improve each day. "It's been a joy to watch the progression this team has made from the start of the season up until now in our doubles play," said Goodman. "I'm excited to see what the rest of the season has in store for this group."

The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board as Brooke Fager and Lilly McNeill dropped their opponents 6-1 for their tenth doubles victory of the season. The duo has gone 9-1 in their last ten and improved to 10-1 on the season.

With Fager and McNeill setting the tone early, Colbeyshae Emery and Mary Brascia also made quick work of their opponents with a 6-1 victory. The victory from Emery and Brascia resulted in an unfinished game on court three from Amelia Kitts and Gaby Carvajal who were up 4-1 prior to the stoppage.

In singles play, it was Brascia who held her opponent scoreless for BU's first singles victory. With the win, Brascia improves to 9-1 on the season tied with Lilly McNeill for the team's best singles record on the year.

Madison Swaney got to work in the six spot for Goodman and nearly matched Brascia's results. Swaney took both sets 6-1 from WNM's Nicold Gonzalez.

Emery and Fager would go on to win the next two with scores of 6-3, 6-1 for Emery and 6-0, 6-1 for Fager clinching the win for Biola.

The remainder of the matches were unfinished. Prior to BU clinching the match, Carvajal had the early advantage after blanking her opponent in set one. Set two was called with Carvajal up by one with a score of 4-3. On court five the game between Ines Diaz and Massiel Paredes was also halted after Diaz secured set one 6-4 and set two remained tied at one.

Biola aims to keep their win streak alive as they return to action on Tuesday, March 23 as they take on Metro State at the Biola Tennis Center. Doubles are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. For updates check athletics.biola.edu
