LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Women's Water Polo continues to add experience with the signing of Kadee Torres-Gurrero, a junior transfer from Riverside Community College.

Torres-Gurrero was a standout player at Corona High School and Riverside Community College where she played the first year of her collegiate career. She brings one year of collegiate experience to help anchor the center position for BU Women's Water Polo.

In high school, Torres-Gurrero received the Big VIII All-League award for water polo while leading her team to CIF Championship appearances. As a freshman at RCC Torres-Gurrero received second-team all conference honors while her team finished second place in the OEC Conference as well as earning a second place finish in the state. Like many other athletes, Kadee's 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Head Coach Sarah Orozco is excited to see what role Torres-Gurrero will play for the Eagles.

"Kadee is an amazing young lady who will bring a strong force at center play for Biola Women's Water Polo," said Coach Orozco. "Her passion for dedication and progress both in life and sport is a gift she brings to our team and something to admire in her. We are excited to have her as she will set the standard at center position and add so much value to our very first program!" 

In addition to excelling in the water, Torres-Gurrero earned Dean's List honors at RCC. Torres-Gurrero plans to major in psychology at Biola as she works towards a career in social work and counseling. "My ultimate goal is to become a mental health and substance abuse social worker/counselor," said Torres-Gurrero. 

"I chose Biola because of the values and morals that the school carries, I knew that I wanted to transfer to a Christian university to continue both my academic and athletic career" said Torres-Gurrero. "I knew that Biola was where I belonged when I met Coach Orozco and learned how welcoming and passionate she was about our future as a team and our futures as individuals in our personal lives. Continuing my water polo career at Biola University is something I have been sure of the moment I stepped foot on campus."
