PacWest SoCal Baseball Schedule Announced

Biola set for a 28-game regular season against PacWest SoCal schools and Westmont.

February 23, 2021

IRVINE, Calif, --- The PacWest Southern California Pod gave final approval for 2021 baseball schedules that feature 28 conference games for BU starting on March 19. In addition, Biola Baseball will host Westmont College on April 30 and May 1 for two double-headers to close the season with non-conference play.

It has been over a year since the Eagles had any game action due to the COVID-19 shutdown. Head Coach Jeff Calhoon and his team are excited to get back on the diamond and compete.

"I really like the depth we have in the position players, it is a big improvement for our program," said Coach Calhoon. "We have some great new arms that we are excited to have competing for us this spring and a couple of young guys that will role players for us in their first year at the collegiate level."

The PacWest Southern California Pod includes No. 19 Azusa Pacific, Biola, No. 28 Concordia Irvine and No. 15 Point Loma, according to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCWBA). The SoCal Pod will feature a plethora of talent and hard fought competition as all four schools are nationally ranked in the top 35.

Biola Baseball will open up the season and PacWest play at home with a two-game series against long time rivals and pre-season No. 19 Azusa Pacific on Mar. 19. The Eagles will head to Azusa Pacific on Mar. 20 for two games as they continue opening weekend action.

PacWest double header play will feature one nine-inning game followed by one seven-inning game.

The Eagles feature a well seasoned group with plenty of experience in the conference. Before COVID-19 prematurely ended their season, Biola Baseball was ranked No. 8 in the country and finished with a record of 12-2. They seek to continue their run in a tough PacWest SoCal Pod.

Players to Watch
Pitcher: Larson Kindreich
Kindreich, a left-handed pitcher was off to a great start in 2020. In five starts and 30 innings for BU, the 6 foot 4 freshman did not allow an earned-run to start the year. Kindreich looks to build off his shortened 2020 and start his sophomore campaign strong.

Position Player: Johnny Sage
After spending two years at Purdue, the DI bounce back looks to make his highly anticipated Biola Baseball debut. Sage was the Boilermaker's starting right fielder in 2019 and 2020 and collected base hits in 11 of his first 13 games in a Purdue uniform.

No spectators will be allowed in-person during this 2021 season, however, all Biola home games will be live streamed for free at https://www.youtube.com/user/BiolaAthletics. All dates/times are subject to change.

The Selection Show for the NCAA Division II West Regional Championships will be held on May 23. For the Eagles, the Road to Cary, North Carolina starts now.
