Biola adds Ethan McGarvey from Taylor University to new Sports Information staff.

February 11, 2021

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola University Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Ethan McGarvey as the new Assistant Sports Information Director. McGarvey will join recently-announced Angelina Staumont to make up the Sports Information office that will serve all 18 of Biola's varsity intercollegiate athletic programs.

He comes to Biola after most recently serving as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. He's served in that capacity since August 2018 and has worked in sports information at Taylor since January 2017.

"After spending the last eight years in the Midwest, I am extremely excited to begin this new endeavor on the west coast at Biola University," said McGarvey. "Joining such a terrific athletics department is a true honor and I am proud to be a part of the community and mission of Biola Athletics, 'to equip athletes in mind and character to impact the world for Christ.'"

While at Taylor, McGarvey helped highlight the academic and athletic achievements of the Trojans' student-athletes, coordinated home athletic events and maintained the Taylor Athletics website. He had a chance to be a part of Taylor's nationally-known "Silent Night" basketball tradition and aided in getting the Trojans highlighted by ESPN.

In addition to his work at Taylor, McGarvey also serves as a Football Analyst for Pro Football Focus, helping gather accurate statistical data and enhance player participation statistics.

"Ethan should fit right in here at Biola. He is a hard worker with a heart to serve student-athletes well in any way he can," said Neil Morgan, associate athletic director for compliance and communication. "I am confident he is someone who will be able to come alongside Angelina and really enhance coverage of all our student-athletes. We're grateful to have him on board."

McGarvey attended Taylor University as an undergraduate, earning a pair of Bachelor's of Science degrees in Sport Management and Finance.

"I am thankful for the hospitality I have already experienced from the Biola community, specifically Neil Morgan and Dr. Bethany Miller," said McGarvey. "I look forward to working with and meeting the rest of the team and doing outstanding work as a Biola Eagle."

McGarvey will head west and begin his duties at Biola on March 1.
