Biola Athletics announces Angelina Staumont as new Sports Information Director.

February 10, 2021

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola University Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Angelina Staumont as its new Sports Information Director. Staumont comes to the Eagles after spending the last eight years at the University of La Verne, first as an NCAA student-athlete and most recently as the Athletics Operations Manager.

"Growing up in La Mirada, there has always been something special about Biola for me and my family. I am honored and excited to be part of such an incredible athletics department and institution," said Staumont.

During her time at La Verne, Staumont was responsible for day-to-day oversight of athletics events, intramural sports and all aspects of gameday operations. She was responsible for fan and community engagement, facilitated the Leopards' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and partnered with the director of facilities and director of communications to serve La Verne's 18 varsity programs.

"We are looking forward to bringing Angelina onto our staff to help serve our student-athletes," said Neil Morgan, associate athletic director for compliance & communications. "She is an innovator, a creative thinker, a team player, a relentless worker and someone who will be able to elevate the athletic communications office here at Biola."

While with the Leopards, Staumont was responsible for hosting all conference and NCAA postseason events. She brings valuable experience as a tournament director for postseason softball, swimming & diving, water polo, volleyball and baseball events.

In her role as Athletics Operations Manager she paid special attention to transforming athletic operations and events to enhance the student-athlete experience, and she also created connections with local community organizations to build affinity to the school.

"This is a really exciting time to be an Eagle and I am thrilled to join Dr. Miller and the incredibly talented staff with Biola Athletics," said Staumont. "I could not ask for more than to be part of an institution that not only strives towards greatness on the field of play, but also develops and equips students to impact the world for Christ."

Staumont is not only from La Mirada, but she also has a direct connection to Biola in her husband, Josh. He played baseball at Biola in 2013. Angelina was a collegiate athlete at La Verne, competing on both the Women's Basketball and Women's Track & Field teams.

She graduated from ULV with a bachelor's degree in athletic training and a minor in biology. After that, she went on to earn a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing. She is currently working towards her doctorate in Organizational Leadership.

"I would like to thank Dr. Bethany Miller, Neil Morgan and the rest of the hiring committee for such an incredible opportunity," said Staumont. "I look forward to helping Biola Athletics reach new heights, as well as having the opportunity to develop and serve our student athletes and campus community."

Staumont will assume the new role at Biola beginning February 15.
