LA MIRADA --- Biola's start to the conference season has accumulated BU quite a bit of attention across the west region. Simmons has been a big part of Biola's success, earning a PacWest Player of the Week award on Monday. 

Freshman guard Amiah Simmons has been nothing but stellar for Biola and continued to shine bright, scoring 20 points or more in five-consecutive games. The most recent two 20-point outings came in conference wins inside Chase Gymnasium. 24 points came in from the phenom on Saturday, marking a season-high and boosting the Eagles to a 89-44 rout over Holy Names.

"Amiah would be the first to say that this is a team award. She has done outstanding work at learning and doing her job and understanding how it fits with her teammates," said Head Coach Alan Nakamura. "Amiah is a gifted athlete who has invested in developing her game, working with her teammates, and doing all she can to help her team to be successful. The future is bright for Amiah and our team."

The Osawatomie, Kansas native is now averaging 19.4 points per game with a total of 43 rebounds, 19 assists and 10 steals in 2021. Simmons has scored 155 points this season to rank second in the conference, while also rating fourth in field goal percentage, converting at 51.4 percent rate. Simmons has contributed to help the Eagles to their team's best start of 6-2 since joining the PacWest in 2017 to earn the No. 10 spot in the D2SIDA West Region rankings. 

The Eagles (6-2, 2-0 PacWest) will return to the court on the road this week in the Cornerstone Cup against Azusa Pacific (6-1, 2-0 PacWest) at 2:15 pm at the Felix Event Center. For live stats links and updates check athletics.biola.edu.
