BU Drops Thursday Bout

Holy Names pulled off a 2-0 upset over a short-handed Biola squad on Thursday night.

LA MIRADA --- The Eagles dropped a home contest on Thursday to Holy Names (5-8-1, 3-5-0 PW) by a 2-0 final margin. Two early goals sunk BU, as they fell to 10-5 on the season and 6-2 in the PacWest.

An eighth minute corner kick got the visitors on the board. The kick led to a heading score that gave HNU a 1-0 lead on Thursday night.

Bad turned worse with an own goal two minutes later, putting the Eagles at a severe 2-0 deficit.

Down but not out, BU needed to turn things around to get back into the match. The offensive group put together a strong play in the 28th minute, surrounding the goal with pressure. The attack created three corner kicks and two shots within a three-minute span but ultimately came up empty.

Many of Biola's offensive opportunities resulted in corners, as the team nabbed seven on the night. Theo Le Calve and Daniel Simonis split the duty of sending them into the box, looking for the head of an Eagle.

In the second half, the Eagles were aggressive in their comeback effort, landing two shots on-goal. Moose Bonat provided a spark in the final five minutes, sending in two solid shots, including one on-target.

Biola is set to return to Al Barbour Field on Saturday in a matchup against Dominican at 5:30 pm.
