First-year Head Coach Nate Harding set out to challenge his teams with a full meet schedule on Friday and Saturday. His teams did not disappoint.

"Both teams responded with grit and mental toughness," said Harding. "I think we started off competition season the right way and I look forward to watching our swimmers progress throughout the season."

One swimmer who is already in mid-season form is Kolya Vos. On day one of the Rodionoff Invitational, Vos swam the fastest time across all divisions in the 100-freestyle. On Saturday, she accomplished the feat again, this time in the 50-freestyle with a time of 24.84, the next two fastest times in the event came from DII swimmers as well.

Biola also swam the fastest time across all divisions in the women's 200-freestyle relay. The Eagles' A team of Kattie Ottman, Liza Parahnevich, Morgan Kampfer, and Kolya Vos swam the event in 1:39.84, .04 seconds faster than Pepperdine's A team.

A quartet of Eagles continued to outperform the DI competition as Parahnevich, Grace Kling, Anna Haaksma and Sofia Chavez-Varela recorded the fastest times in the women's 200-medley.

Tanner Smith won the men's 100-freestyle with a time of 47.61. Michael Maurer gave Biola another top finish in the 200-butterfly with a mark of 2:02.08

Smith would go on to finish in second place in the 200-freestyle, touching the wall just .50 seconds after Cal Lutheran's Keegan March. In the 200-breaststroke, Jacob Haaksma recorded a second place finish with a time of 29.47

Biola has one more meet before the calendar turns to November. The Eagles now shift their attention to the Bay Area Invite in Santa Cruz, California, beginning on October 29.
