MALIBU, Calif. --- Biola Swim & Dive fared well at day one of the Rodionoff Invitational on Friday at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool.

The women's team competed against Pepperdine,  Loyola Marymount (LMU), The Master's and Cal Lutheran while the men's team competed against the later two schools. 

After day one of competition the women's team scored 199 points, second to only Pepperdine with 240 points, while the men's team scored 181 points and sits in the lead.

"I was pleased with our swimmers ability to set the tone early with some quality swims," said Head Coach Nate Harding. " I think a lot of our student-athletes were excited to get up and race for the first time this season."

Biola received a big performance in the 200-freestyle relay as the A and B team combined for 30 points in the event. Biola's A team of Katie Ottman, Liza Parahnevich, Morgan Kampfer, and Kolya Vos swam a time of 1:39.84 for a first place finish while the B team finished in third place. 

The women's team saw just as strong of results in the 400-medley relay as Parahnevich, Grace Kling, Kampfer and Vos finished nearly nine seconds faster than the next team. 

The Eagles received back-to-back finishes in the women's 100-backstrone as Grace Kling and Anna Haaksma finished friest and second in the event. 

Biola received another set of consecutive finishes in the men's 100-backstroke with Haaksma and Noah Benson finishing in second and third place. 

Kolya Vos In the 100-freestyle, Kolya Vos swam the fastest time across all divisions competing in the meet with a time of 54.17. Tanner Smith secured the top time on the men's side of the event. 

The Eagles saw strong results on the men's side on the 200-freestyle relay as three Biola teams combined for 32 points . The A team of Jake Michelson, James Gammette, Ethan Crab, and Tanner Smith finished in second place with a time of 1:27.41.

Michael Maurer added to the men's success with a first place finish in the men's 200-butterfly.

Harding and his team will look to get in more clutch performances on Saturday as Biola returns to Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool for day two of the Rodionoff Invitational.
