IRVINE, Calif. --- There was no doubt who would be recognized as the PacWest Defender of the Week on Monday. Sami Hover put together an unbelievable week on the court for BU, picking up a program and conference record 47 digs in a four-set win on Friday.

"So, so proud of Sami and what she has accomplished in her career," said head coach Aaron Seltzer. "Nothing compares to what she means as a person to our program. Amazing leadership and service to her teammates is what you get every day from her."

Through seven sets and two victories, Hover compiled 56 digs for the Eagles, while averaging 8.0 digs per set. Friday brought the astronomical number from Hover, who tallied a PacWest record, 47 digs, against Fresno Pacific. The four-set total was also a Biola record, as the BU libero surpassed 30 digs for the fourth time this season.

Covering every inch of the back row was nothing new for the reigning All-PacWest award-winner. The fifth-year player has 2,180 career digs, entering Monday, which ranks fourth in the history of the PacWest. Only six more digs would move Hover into third all-time.

"She has been so humble yet has been used in such a great way here," added Seltzer. "I could not be more proud."

Hover and the Eagles return to action at home against Chaminade on Monday night at 7:00 pm.
