Game Recap: Men's Water Polo |

Aggies Stay Undefeated

Biola can't topple the No. 8 Aggies who remain perfect in WWPA play.

DAVIS, Calif. --- Biola Men's Water Polo began its busy weekend in Northern California with a matchup under the lights at Western Water Polo Association powerhouse No. 8 UC Davis.

The Aggies took advantage of turnovers to pile on 22 goals in contest, winning 22-3. Biola's three goals came from the usual suspects Maxwell Osborn, Kenny Wulf and Luke Franklin. Osborn got the Eagles on the board first by converting on a five-meter.

UC Davis scored six or more goals in the first, third and fourth periods to build the 19-goal advantage. The second quarter was more friendly to coach Rick Nordell's squad - going just 3-1 in favor of the home team.

The Eagles committed 21 turnovers on the night, but Nordell's squad was very disciplined on the defensive end, only needing to play a man down four times.

They had to deal with an unrelenting UCD attack, which gave the Aggies the 34-18 advantage in shots. Once again, Biola's opponent piled on with a fantastic shooting percentage. The hosts hit the back of the net on 65 percent of their shots, which was 25 percent better than their season average of 40 percent.

The goal from Wulf was his team-leading 27th of the year. Franklin became the fourth Eagle to hit double-digits by scoring his 10th of the season.

The loss drops BU to 1-15 overall and 0-7 in the PacWest Conference. UC Davis improved to 14-6 and stayed perfect in WWPA play by picking up their second conference win of the day.

This is the first match of four this weekend. The Eagles continue play with the first day of the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament on Saturday.

BU was set to play two matches but their match with Bucknell was cancelled due to flight cancellations. So, it's just Biola vs. Iona at 8:30 a.m. at San Jose State's pool.
