Road Warriors

Three matches in Hawaii resulted in three wins for the Eagles, as they blanked the Vulcans on Thursday.

HILO, Hawaii --- A week in Hawaii was all sun and flowers for the Eagles, as the BU men's soccer team was perfect through three contests. On Thursday, BU (9-4-0, 5-1-0 PW) finished its trip with a 2-0 win over Hawaii Hilo (4-6-1, 2-4-1 PW).

Following Thursday's victory, Biola improved its winning streak to four matches with all four contests happening on the road. All four victories also came against conference opponents, helping the team to first place in the PacWest, after Thursday's action.

The Eagles were in control for nearly the entire match against Hawaii Hilo. Ball possession favored Biola on the afternoon with the Eagles maintaining possession for 58 percent of the match.

An offense ready to strike found success with a goal from Ruben Neubauer. In his fourth-straight start this season, Neubauer netted his first tally to give Biola a 1-0 lead. Haiko Hovak and Pontus Gitselov played their part to get the opportunity started, logging the assists on the play.

The pressure from the Eagles was relentless, resulting in a second first half goal for BU. In the 36th minute, Aidan Hill recorded a score with an assist from Adam Jones. Hill picked up his second goal of the season to extend Biola's lead to two.

On the back end, the BU defense completed its fifth shutout of 2021. JD Gunn notched the win, as BU's goalkeeper, giving him his third blank sheet of the season.

Throughout the contest, the Vulcans were only able to send off six shots. Thanks to great pressure from the backline, just one shot was on target from UHH.

Biola will return to Al Barbour Field for its next competition, taking on Concordia next Thursday at 7:00 pm.
