EL PASO, Texas --- Head Coach David Goodman has rounded out the class of incoming transfers for Biola Men's Tennis with the addition of Sebastian Herrera. 

Like fellow incomer Alex Sedeño, Herrera carries as UTR of 10 as he transfers from an NCAA DI Institution in New Mexico State. He is also the second native of El Paso to join the Eagles for the 2020-21 academic year (Isaac Córdova).

Herrera worked his way to a number of accomplishments during his time at Franklin High School in Texas. He played on his school's varsity team all four years of high school and earned All-City First Team honors as a sophomore. Then he earned district MVP honors the next year and was the only player from El Paso to qualify for the UIL 6A State Tennis Tournament after navigating through the district and regional phases of the singles draw. 

His stint at New Mexico State started with two wins in round robin play against opponents from Grand Canyon and Arizona during his freshman fall. His next action came a calendar year later, but it still showed definite improvement. Herrera advanced to the semifinals of the Aggie Invitational this past September and went 6-1 during the fall with a perfect 4-0 record in matches that went beyond two sets. 

He also appeared in half of the Aggies' matches during the abbreviated 2020 Spring season, helping NMSU go 4-3 in those contests. 

Herrera will major in Cinema & Media Arts at Biola and joins an Eagles men's tennis team that has many reasons for optimism headed into next year. In addition to having two Eagles in the final ITA West Regional Rankings (Alexei Prokopchuk and Logan Blair), Herrera gives Biola its seventh man on the 2020-21 roster that currently holds a UTR of 10 or better. Every member of the team also has a UTR of nine or higher, just like the Eagles did when they went 7-4 in 2020.
