LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Women's Soccer alumna Madyson Brown represented Biola among the record 605 nominations that were announced for NCAA Woman of the Year on Tuesday.

Rooted in Title IX, the NCAA Woman of the Year Award was established in 1991 to recognize graduating female student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.

A graduate of Biola's nursing program, Brown earned the Eagles 2019 Female Student-Athlete of the Year and Dr. Dave Holmquist Career Achievement awards a few months ago in recognition of her distinguished career. The center back and former team captain also recently signed a professional contract to join Zaragoza CFF in Spain for the club's 2020-21 season beginning this August. 

In recognition of the awards four pillars, academics, athletics, service and leadership, the nomination process included a description of Brown's community service work, her academic and athletic awards and a personal statement on how her college experience empowered her to have a positive impact on the world. 

All nominations will be forwarded to the member institutions' respective conference offices, which will select two nominees for consideration by the Woman of the Year selection committee. And that committee will eventually submit three finalists from each division of the NCAA membership before a Woman of the Year is selected.
