PIEDMONT, Calif. --- Biola Women's Basketball fans have developed high expectations for players wearing number 11 over the past few years; they've watched All-PacWest forward Jazz Benn make a big impact on the Eagles' success with an all-around game that delivers on both ends of the court. 

But if those same fans watched Maddy Meadows' highlights and saw her wearing number 11 for Cal Storm and Piedmont High, they would see that Meadows is more than capable of meeting those expectations. The 5-9 guard distributes the ball well with a solid handle, shows great instincts on defense and can make defenders pay from almost anywhere on the floor if she's given too much space. It's no wonder that she has been named to several all-tournament teams and has earned multiple tournament and league titles over the years.

Her drive to be excellent also matches the strong character possessed by Benn and the other members of Biola Women's Basketball, so Head Coach Alan Nakamura is confident Meadows can contribute to her college team in a variety of ways. 

"We are excited to add Maddy to our Biola Basketball family; she will fit right in! Maddy is going to enhance our basketball culture with her joyful and upbeat spirit, bounce and versatility on the court, and team-first attitude," said Head Coach Alan Nakamura. "Our players do a wonderful job in humbly welcoming, caring for and serving each other, and I think Maddy will both flourish in, and add to, our environment. Playing in quality programs like Cal Storm and Piedmont High have given her excellent preparation for this next step."

After winning a CIF North Coast Section Division 3 Championship in 2017 at Salesian College Preparatory High, Meadows will ride the momentum of a great senior season with the Piedmont Highlanders as she comes to Biola. 

Meadows helped Piedmont maintain their high levels of success as the team won over 20 games and advanced to the second round of the CIF North Section Championships for the second-straight year. She was awarded Second Team All-Foothill League honors in the West Alameda County Conference for her efforts and still had time to take on leadership roles for the greater student body. 

Meadows served as a co-leader on the Student-Athlete Leadership Council and led the efforts to re-establish the Black Student Union at Piedmont High last year by serving as the club president. She also earned a Award of Distinction in Algebra II/Trigonometry during her time in high school and is excited to pursue her dream of being a sports broadcaster by majoring in Journalism & Integrated Media at Biola.

"I chose Biola because the university has one of the best programs in the country for my major," said Meadows. "I am so excited to continue my education and continue my basketball career while playing in one of the best conferences in California, the wonderful PacWest. It's really the best of both worlds!"
