QUITO, Ecuador --- After making a big splash last season with the addition of Alexei Prokopchuk from Cerritos College, Biola Men's Tennis has added another gem from a powerhouse California community college program in Antonio Rosales. 

Rosales has held down the No. 1 line in singles and doubles for Ventura College over the past two seasons, helping the Pirates qualify for the Southern California Regional Playoffs in 2019 and post a perfect 8-0 record in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic halted play. The Ecuadorian will carry a UTR of 11 into his three years of athletic eligibility at Biola and built an extensive list of individual accomplishments during his two years with the Pirates.

As a freshman, Rosales earned All-Western State Conference honors in both singles and doubles after successful runs at the 2019 conference and state tournaments. He advanced to the WSC Championship match and the round of 32 at the California Community Colleges Championships in Ojai as an individual, earning second team all-conference honors in his first year as the Pirates' No. 1 singles player. 

Rosales also won a conference championship and was named first team All-WSC in doubles with fellow freshman Kyle Spiegelman after the duo advanced to the state tournament quarterfinals. 

This past season Rosales continued his performance as a dependable player at the top flight with four singles wins and five doubles wins. Ventura College was named the WSC Conference Champion with its 5-0 WSC record and was the only men's tennis team in Southern California to remain undefeated when play was suspended.

The Pirates alumni's leadership abilities also extended to the classroom, as Rosales was named his team's 2020 Scholar Athlete for having the top GPA for Ventura College Men's Tennis. He plans to major in business administration at Biola and will be the ninth member of the Biola Men's Tennis roster who will study in the Crowell School of Business.
