LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Jett Legacion had high aspirations during her college search.

A talented golfer who received attention from golf publications since she started playing in early elementary school, Legacion required an elite collegiate program that could match her skill level. But she has also had her heart set on vocational ministry since 2017 and wanted to learn from Christian professors who would mentor her and equip her to share the gospel. 

With those two passions guiding her search, Legacion had several reasons to believe God was leading her to commit to Biola Women's Golf: she moved to La Mirada in December 2018, she could join teammates on the Eagles' roster that had won an NCCAA national title and earned All-PacWest honors, and Legacion would get to learn from a coach in Jane Carr who brings over 20 years of ministry experience to the Christian Ministries classes she teaches at Biola. 

"I chose Biola because I wanted to attend a university that is centered on Jesus and that can help me grow as a Christian, student, and an athlete," said Legacion. "[Once] I decided to become a youth pastor, I started to look for a Christian University where I could get a college golf scholarship to study Christian ministries. My dad told me about Biola around August 2018 but I did not know that Biola was only four minutes away from my new house at the time. After finding out how close the campus was, I visited and knew that this was where God was leading me."

Legacion will major in Bible, Theology and Ministry with a Christian Ministries concentration at Biola and brings a golf resume that includes several tournament victories from a young age. In addition to SCPGA event and local tournament victories over the years, Legacion won a Future Champions Golf San Diego Junior Amateur title just before she turned 11 and qualified for the IMG Academy Junior World Championships. 

She played a year of high school golf at Claremont High before concentrating on homeschooling and other golf opportunities. But even in that short time, Legacion left a massive impact on the Claremont team. She set the school record for lowest nine-hole score, earned First Team All-Palomares League honors and qualified for the CIF Southern Section Individual Championships in a single season as a freshman.

Legacion has been a straight-A student with Inspire Charter Schools since and has developed a passion for producing music. She has played on several worship teams as a keyboardist and has uploaded music to Spotify, Apple Music and other digital music retailers.
