Signing Announcement for Alyssa Fox

Best Place For Growth

All-Oregon outside hitter Alyssa Fox feels Biola and its volleyball program offer her the best opportunity for holistic growth.

April 30, 2020

ROSEBURG, Ore. --- The renewed rivalry between Biola Volleyball and Point Loma took on a new dimension with the signing of outside hitter Alyssa Fox.

Fox is the younger sister of Point Loma middle Madie Fox, who earned AVCA All-American honors for the Sea Lions last year and will be one of the key returners for PLNU in 2020. But Alyssa has her own extensive resume of volleyball accolades as an outside hitter and will be joining an Eagles team this fall that hopes to build on its three-match winning streak against the Sea Lions.

Alyssa Fox was a varsity player all four of her high school years in Oregon. She won First Team All-League honors in her junior year at Roseburg and then had a great senior year at Sutherlin high where she helped carry the Bulldogs to their first league title in program history. Fox was named AVCA/MaxPreps Player of the Week for Oregon in late September and will come to Biola on the heels of Far West League Player of the Year and First Team All-State recognition.

"We are so excited to welcome Alyssa to our program. It was evident from the first time we talked with her how hard she worked to get to this point," said Head Coach Aaron Seltzer. "Alyssa has impressed us with her maturity and drive to succeed in all she does.  We can't wait to have her join us this fall!"

The News-Review also credits Fox with 366 kills and 424 digs across 30 matches as she helped Sutherlin finish fifth in the OSAA 3A state playoffs during her senior season. She plans to major in psychology at Biola and is excited about how the university and the volleyball team will help her holistic growth:

"I chose Biola University because of its amazing coaching staff, great team atmosphere and beautiful campus," said Fox. "I feel that this is the best place for me to grow in faith and become a better athlete, student and person."

Alyssa Fox and the Eagles are scheduled to play Point Loma twice this upcoming October, at Biola on October 6 and in San Diego on Halloween. More information on the incoming 2020-21 class that will join Fox at Biola can be found on the Committed Athletes page.
