LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The final Oracle/ITA West Region rankings were released by the ITA National Office on Wednesday and included several members of the Biola tennis program.

Because the PacWest is the only conference in the West that sponsors tennis as a conference sport, the ITA's West Region rankings end up being a good indicator of the best singles players and doubles teams in the conference. And Wednesday's release is a testament to how much improvement Biola saw in 2020.

On the men's side, the Eagles' top doubles team of Alexei Prokopchuk and Edwyn Ramos were given the No. 2 ranking in the region after posting a 6-1 record together. Most notably, Prokopchuk and Ramos rattled off four doubles wins in a row and posted victories against the three teams that were ranked No. 3 through No. 5 in the final list in the West Region.

Biola Tennis also placed three men's singles players in the Region's top-20. Prokopchuk was ranked No. 6 after going 9-1 at the No. 1 singles line for the Eagles. Logan Blair and Derek James were listed at No. 18 and No. 17, respectively, for their work at the No. 2 and No. 3 flights. Blair started off the season with three-straight singles wins and picked up a three-set victory over the region's 19th-ranked player. James won eight singles decisions and went 7-0 in singles play from February 4 to March 2.

The No. 1 doubles team for Biola Women's Tennis was also ranked in the region top-10 with the freshmen tandem of Colbeyshae Emery and Brooke Fager landing at No. 9. The pair won five doubles matches in 2020 and earned a win over the No. 7-ranked team in the West region on February 15.

Emery also posted Biola's highest singles ranking by rising to No. 5 in the region with her 12-2 singles record at the top of the lineup for BLT. During her 10-match singles winning streak to conclude the season, Emery earned victories against three other women ranked in the top-20, including two opponents who finished in the top-10.

Biola Tennis will be back in the fall as the players prepare for ITA West Region tournament play.
