TEMECULA, Calif. --- As long as she can remember, the dream of playing basketball at a high level has been a strong driving force for guard Sydney Moran. It has fueled her to unprecedented success at Linfield Christian High School and carried through a year away from the game as she looked for her next home court.
 
But that two-semester break has been long enough for Moran and she's hungry to make the most of her time at Biola after signing a letter of intent to join Head Coach Alan Nakamura's team beginning this coming fall.  
 
"I am super excited to have been given the opportunity to play at Biola because playing collegiate basketball has been a dream that I've been working hard for since I was four years old," said Moran. "I chose Biola because I knew I wanted to be at a Christ-centered school that had my major. But I'm also really excited to play for the awesome coaches in this program and to get to know my new teammates!"
 
Moran was a whirlwind for the Lions at Linfield Christian over four seasons. According to Maxpreps.com, she averaged 16.7 points per game over 89 varsity contents and posted a tick over 20 ppg during CIF play as a senior when Linfield Christian won a CIF Southern Section Championship and earned a second-round berth in the CIF Division IV State playoffs.
 
Consequently, Moran was named the Southern Section Small School Player of the Year and a John Wooden Award recipient in 2019 as a leading senior on a team that went 25-4 with a 14-0 mark in league. 
 
The CIF-SS girls' basketball championship was the first in school history for the Lions and came alongside several program bests that Moran set in her high school uniform. The four-time First-Team All-Ambassador League player graduated as the holder of nine program records, including career point total (1,486), single-season point total (521), single-season assist total (91) and several other shooting marks. 
 
"Sydney is a hard-working, focused young lady," said Head Coach Alan Nakamura. "She is going to bring a determined attitude to Biola in everything she does. With her high character she is going to enhance the wonderful chemistry we have on our team!"
 
In addition to an All-Southern Section nod as a sophomore, the Temecula-native was named to the high honor roll at Linfield Christian all four years of high school. She plans to declare a nursing major at Biola and hopes to continue serving on short-term missions trips that she participated in while in high school.
