Signing announcement for Brandon Thomas

Thomas Fits 2021 Mission

Brandon Thomas will join Biola Baseball for the 2021 season after posting a history of winning and raking in high school and college.

March 19, 2020

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah --- Given Biola Baseball's strong start to the 2020 season, the Eagles naturally would want additions to the roster who will feel right at home in their mission to follow-through in 2021.

Head Coach Jeff Calhoon's team rose as high as No. 8 in the NCAA DII National Top-25 poll, posted two series sweeps and bashed 39 extra-base hits in 14 games before the season was called. But transfer outfielder/pitcher Brandon Thomas can jump right into that pace of success without missing a beat and will look to be a big help to Biola's playoff push in 2021.

"Brandon brings a toughness and work-ethic to campus that we want to continue to build around," said Coach Calhoon. "He was off to a great start this spring and has the ability to help our team immediately; he is exactly the type of player we are looking for at the junior college level."

Thomas was ranked second in the Northwest Athletic Conference with a .545 batting average over Yakima Valley College's first 12 games of 2020, posting four multi-hit games, a homerun and nine runs scored.

He and the Yaks swept their way through the NWAC Regionals and into the Championship Tournament while going 30-19 in 2019. And Thomas won a 6A UHSAA State Championship with Bingham High School during his senior year, as he drove in 10 runs and scored five times during the Miners' six postseason games.

Away from the baseball diamond, Thomas channels his athleticism into hobbies like skiing, snowboarding and cliff jumping during the offseason. He also takes an interest in working on cars and hopes to use a political science degree from Biola to go into law.

"I chose Biola because of the culture that is presented here: Biola focuses on faith and community, making it a great fit for me," said Thomas. "I am very excited to come to Biola and fully immerse myself in the culture and community, while focusing on my faith, schooling and baseball."

Brandon Thomas will join his new teammates in the coming fall semester as the Biola Boys prepare for their first real shot at an NCAA West Regional berth. More information on the incoming 2020-21 class that will join her at Biola can be found on the Committed Athletes page.
