SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. --- After completing a stellar four-year career with Biola Women's Basketball and excelling in the Eurobasket Summer League this past June, guard Tatum Brimley has signed a professional contract with the Scottsdale Sirens, a flagship affiliate of the newly formed Women's Basketball Association.

Brimley garnered her tryout invites and the attention of the Sirens after a steady career in an Eagles uniform that was punctuated by several highlight performances. The Arizona-native became the 24th member of the 1,000 point club for Biola Women's Basketball while starting an average of 20 games per season. And she took her game to the next level as a senior and particularly in the last few months of collegiate competition. 

The guard led her team in scoring during the 2019-20 campaign and scored in double-figures 18 times. But her last two games stand out among the rest and earned her All-PacWest Tournament recognition. Brimley scored the game-winning layup in Biola's upset win over Point Loma in the tournament quarterfinals and then scored a career-high 24 points in her last game, collecting 15 in the fourth-quarter to help the Eagles scare top-ranked Hawaii Pacific in the semifinal. 

Now Brimley will prepare to join a Sirens team that is just starting its first season of existence. The Scottsdale team is currently playing other nearby college teams like Arizona Christian to accommodate for COVID-19 restrictions. But they plan to take an international trip in the new calendar year to play the Tijuana Lady Dragons and are preparing for their opening season in April.

The Women's Basketball Association was founded this past year and plans to continue expanding beyond its current collection of six teams spread across both coasts. 

"[Signing] means the world to me because I had almost given up on playing," said Brimley. "God presented the opportunity out of nowhere and I'm so thankful to still be able to play the sport I love while working a job I'm extremely passionate about. I've never been happier. 

"In the meantime, I've been doing a lot of strength and conditioning workouts with my fitness trainer and attending practices with the team."

When she isn't in a Sirens uniform, Brimley will continue to use her human biology training at Biola to stay busy in the Phoenix-Area. The graduate also earned her EMT certification during her final basketball season with the Eagles and has worked in an ambulance since obtaining her bachelor of science.
