Signing announcement for Kyrie Codd

Codd Achieves Her Goal

Kyrie Codd and her family got great returns from the investment they put into soccer and her recruiting process.

December 14, 2020

STAFFORD, Va. --- Soccer is a full family affair for Kyrie Codd and her family. And they've found a source of connection and deep fulfillment as a reward for their investment in the game.

With the support of parents who helped balance two team schedules at a time, Codd and her younger sister Amara have availed themselves to quality club teams in the Stafford, Virginia-area and embraced an intrinsic drive for their training. After spending time with Fredericksburg FC, Kyrie has sharpened her goalkeeping skills against top ENCL talent with her Virginia Development Academy U19 team and even sought out private coaching sessions alongside college players in recent months to set her expectations for the next level.

Having those opportunities to maximize, and even increase, her talents and mental fortitude have definitely been worth the extra effort for Codd. And she applied that same tenacity to her college search, going the extra mile to make sure she found the Christian institution on the west coast that fit her best.

Codd canvassed several schools in California on trips for ID Camps and visits. But the goalkeeper found the Christian commitment she was looking for when she learned about Head Coach Erin Brunelle's program and the particular way the team expresses the love of Christ in its values and culture. Codd quickly became excited and officially signed with the Eagles in November.

"I chose Biola because I could feel God's presence the second I stepped on the campus, I felt like that is where I'm meant to be," said Codd. "The fact that sports all revolve around our Creator made my heart so happy!"

Codd will certainly be a welcome addition to Biola Women's Soccer given the ways she already demonstrates the characteristics of the program. On top of her instrict motivation to be her best in goal, Codd is a strong student who received Academic Honors for all three of the high school years she's completed. And she possesses maturity and leadership qualities that were affirmed when her high school soccer team made her a captain as a sophomore.

Like many of her future teammates, she hopes to have a career that allows her to serve others and intends to major in early childhood education at Biola.

Kyrie Codd will enroll at Biola in fall 2021 and is the first official signee of the 2020-21 recruiting cycle for Biola Women's Soccer. More information on the rest of the student-athletes that will join her at Biola in 2021-22 can be found on the Committed Athletes page.
