LA MIRADA, Calif. --- With the 2019-20 roster arriving to campus last week, Biola Women's Basketball is excited to announce the addition of Ciara Iglehart to the coaching staff as an assistant coach.

She joins returning post-players coach Dominic Freeman on Head Coach Alan Nakamura's staff.

Iglehart comes to Biola after holding a head coaching position last year for Tus Bad Aibling in the German Bundesliga I professional league. Iglehart also played in Germany during one of her professional stops, winning the Bundesliga Championship in 2014 and averaging 15.3 points per game and 11.2 rebounds while earning finals MVP. Her other professional stop was in the Dominican Republic, where she was named league MVP in the year she average 19.3 ppg and 11.1 rpg.

Iglehart's professional career followed a hall of fame caliber stint at Saddleback College that garnered the recruiting interest of NCAA DI Ohio University. Iglehart was first team all-conference and second team all-state both years at Saddleback and helped her team advance to the state regional finals her freshman year. She went onto average eight points and five rebounds as a senior at Ohio and earned her bachelors in retail merchandise with a minor in business.

From there, Iglehart's studies zeroed in on coaching. She earned a masters in sports psychology in 2011 and is currently working on her doctorate in advanced human behavior.

"I choose Biola is because I know it will help me in fulfilling God's purpose for me which is to help student-athletes while growing my relationship with Christ," said Iglehart. "Also working under the direction of Coach Alan is a blessing as I was recruited by him in High School and happy to finally be working with him."

Iglehart has seven other years of coaching experience, four of which took place in Southern California and the collegiate and high school. She coached the women's 18 and under team for three years in Germany while playing professionally and returned to the US in 2014 to coach The Bishop's School's Girls Team. Iglehart moved onto the head position at San Diego Mesa College from 2015 to 2017 and an assistant position at Saddleback in 2017-18.

Both of Iglehart's teams at San Diego Mesa earned a Community Service award under her tutelage.

"Ciara is a joyful woman with a big heart for the Lord, for young people, and for teaching basketball. We are very excited to add her as a key part of our program," said Head Coach Alan Nakamura. "The game runs through her family, and through her life. She is going to bring extensive playing and coaching experience, passion, and godly humility. I am very thankful to have the opportunity to work with Ciara, and Dominic Freeman, on our staff. They are excellent representatives of the joy of the Lord, and they are a blessing to all!"

Iglehart and the Eagles will begin the 2019-20 at the end of October when the travel to Malibu to play Pepperdine in an exhibition.
