CLAREMONT, Calif. --- Despite spending his first year of college at the other end of the country, Andrew Beauvais will have some familiarity with the PacWest when he joins Biola Baseball for the 2019-20 school year. 

Beauvais drew interest from some Biola conference peers out of Claremont High School before committing to the University of Pittsburgh. But he's decided to return home for school going forward and might even try to show some PacWest teams what they missed out on when he suits up for Head Coach Jeff Calhoon this Spring.

"Andrew has the potential and skill set to help us in the short term and the long term," said Coach Calhoon. "We are ecstatic to have this great young man join us at Biola University."

Beauvais comes to Biola with four years of eligibility and is fresh off a summer that included training at PFA Fitness in Claremont and a brief stint with the Orange County Surf in the California Collegiate League. He was a two-time All-Palomeras League selection during his high school career and posted a 2.93 ERA with 119 strikeouts during his three years on varsity. 

He pitched a total of 136 innings over those three years and saw time as both a starter and closer. 

Beauvais plans to major in mathematics at Biola and looks forward to how the Christian community and baseball program at Biola will encourage him in his personal development:

"I chose Biola because it is a good opportunity to play baseball and receive my degree while being surrounded by a great group of people," said Beauvais.

Andrew Beauvais will meet his new teammates at the end of August and beginning preparing for Biola Baseball's first season of NCAA postseason eligibility in 2020. More information about other incoming student-athletes can be found on the Committed Athletes page.
