LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Baseball's fantastic final transition season resulted in three men earning All-American honors from the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association. Anthony Villegas led the way, landing on the first team. Jerron Largusa (second team) and Jackson Collins (third team) were also recognized.

Villegas had a stellar sophomore season as one of Head Coach Justin Duarte's most consistent options out of the bullpen. He had 15 appearances, including three games started. He posted a 5-2 overall record and improved his earned run average by nearly six full runs in 2019, finishing with a 4.30 ERA.

The All-American first team recognition is Villegas' first career postseason honors. The sophomore allowed one or fewer runs in nine of his 15 outings, including six appearances with no earned runs. His most impressive stretch of the season came in late-March and early-April when he strung together back-to-back-to-back appearances with no earned runs in appearances against Azusa Pacific and Fresno Pacific.

It was after those appearances that Duarte move him from the bullpen to the starting rotation. Biola won all three games Villegas started.

Jerron Largusa capped his Biola career with another exceptional season to land NCCAA postseason honors for the second consecutive season. Largusa led Biola with his .343 batting average and also was first among Eagles in extra-base hits (21), hits (61) and multi-hit games (16).

Speed became a greater weapon for Largusa this season, beginning the season 11-for-11 on stolen base attempts before ending with a career-high 12 swipes. The numbers he posted during this senior season allowed him to end his four-year Biola career with a batting average over .300 (.303) and a mark above the 200-hit plateau.

Largusa was NCCAA All-West Region second team in 2018.

Jackson Collins rode a breakout season to NCCAA All-American third team honors in 2019. The sophomore exploded onto the scene with tremendous numbers during PacWest Conference play, helping lessen the impact of Biola missing injured Ryan Gallegos.

Collins' numbers earned him All-PacWest second team honors and helped him bring in a Player of the Week honor late in the season. He led Biola's offense in homeruns (9) and walks (26). He was a top-5 player in the PacWest Conference in on-base percentage (.464), slugging percentage (.628) and walks.

During his freshman season Collins started 11 games and appeared in 31, hitting .217. He improved drastically in all those categories this season - starting 36 games, appearing in 42 and hitting .339.

Biola finished its season 29-19 to place fifth in the PacWest Conference. It was the Eagles' third consecutive season with at least 10 more wins than losses. The 2019 season was Biola's final season in the NCCAA as BU anticipates full membership in NCAA Division II in 2020.
