SAN DIEGO --- Madi Chang developed the resume of a prototypical scholar-athlete while at The Bishop's School in La Jolla, earning recognition for her work in photography by her school and poetry by the Scholastic's Art and Writing Contest while tearing up the hardwood as a reliable scorer for the Knights.
 
Come next academic year, Chang's journey will continue at Biola University, where she'll major in Nursing and join the Eagles' women's basketball team as Biola looks to qualify for the PacWest tournament for the first time.
 
Chang helped the Knights advance past the first round of the CIF Sectional playoffs all four years she was on the varsity roster. After appearing in 32 varsity contests as a freshman, Chang went to average 10.8 points and 4.8 rebounds in 99 games at The Bishop's. She was named a preseason player to watch by the San Diego Union-Tribune ahead of her junior and senior year, earned MaxPreps Player of the Week honors on Nov. 27, 2017 and was recognized as the Most Valuable Player at the Golf Crown Tournament in 2017.
 
The Knights advanced past the first round of the CIF Sectional Playoffs and CIF State Playoffs in three of the four years Chang was on the roster. And they advanced to the second round of State Playoffs with a 12-2 record at home when Chang captained her team this past season.
 
Off the hardwood, Chang enjoys spending her time at the nearby beach and with her youth group, where she serves a student leader. She was named on the Union Tribune All-Academic Team from 2017 to 2019 and put her name on The Bishop's School Honor Roll in 2018. She's also looking forward to joining a team and University community that will help continue this growth as a person an athlete.
 
"Everything about Biola drew me in: the campus and the people on it, the nursing department, and the basketball team," said Chang. "I am beyond blessed to be joining a team not only committed to excellent athletics, but also dedicated to grow in their faith. I'm most excited about being able to work hard at a sport I love and meet some amazing girls along the way."
