Ready To Run

Biola Track & Field set for the 2019 PacWest Championships Friday & Saturday.

April 25, 2019

AZUSA, Calif. --- Championship season continues this week as Biola Track & Field competes for the second time in the PacWest Track & Field Championships. The championship meet is nearby at Azusa Pacific, hosted by the Cougars at Cougar Athletic Stadium.

The meet runs Friday April 26 through Saturday April 27 with mostly preliminary events on Friday and mostly finals on Saturday. Live results of the meet are available at http://finishedresults.trackscoreboard.com/#/results/meet/8288.

The first event is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday and the final event 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The Eagles' two teams combine for 83 individual entries and a handful of relays as they look to move up the leaderboard this year.

At last year's championships the men's team managed 65 total points to place sixth. The women's side had 57 total points to place seventh. Biola had one individual win a conference championship in the men's high jump.

This season Biola has one individual on top of the conference performance list heading into the conference championship. That's Ryan Thompson, who's top 10,000m time of 30:44.61 is over a minute faster than any other school's best 10k. Angel Escobar is second in the 10k headed into the championships, making that a key event for points for BU.

Outside of that, the Eagles have 11 other entries that come into the week ranked in the top-3 on the conference performance list. A top-3 finish in the finals of any conference championship event earns that individual All-PacWest first team honors and also earns the team important points.

Any top-8 finish results in points for the team and Biola comes into the week with 38 individual entries in point-scoring position on the performance list. To see the entire performance list, visit TFRRS at the following link: https://www.tfrrs.org/lists/2631/PacWest_Outdoor_Performance_List/2019/.

Biola has three individuals in the top-8 in three different events. Keep an eye on those through the weekend as potential difference-makers. This includes the men's 110m hurdles with Nathaniel Belden, Corry Williams and J'Vaughn Singleton, the men's 10k with Thompson, Escobar and Jared Donnel and men's 5,000m with Ryan St. Pierre, Thompson and Brady DeHaven.
