Baseball Vs. CSULA Postponed Indefinitely

Weather conditions force BU-CSULA to postpone season-opener. Date TBA.

February 05, 2019

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Baseball's Tuesday game at CSULA has been canceled due to unplayable field conditions. A make-up date will be discussed and announced later on.

The game was originally scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, but was pushed back to Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. due to rain all day Monday. Unfortunately, when the field was checked Tuesday morning the outfield was still unplayable and was going to take more time to get prepped.

As a result, the coaches agreed to push back to a 6 p.m. start time at Reeder Field, weather permitting. Then, the weather did not permit. The outfield grass would be too wet and be an injury risk, so both coaches agreed to cancel and make an attempt to reschedule.

CSULA, which was 28-24 overall and 24-20 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play in 2018, was picked to finish fifth in the CCAA in preseason voting by the conference coaches. Biola was 34-22 overall last season and 21-19 in PacWest Conference play. The Eagles were picked to finish fourth in the PacWest and eighth in the NCBWA West Region poll. Cal State LA is ranked 10th in the regional poll.

Now, Biola will turn its attention to its own field prep as it prepares to open its season with a home contest against Hope International at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
