LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Raymond Kam put on a show during day three of the 2019 Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference championship. The junior had three school record swims and finished top-3 in one individual event.

The Eagles are holding steady in the standings on both sides with the men in fourth with 521 points and the women sitting eighth with 392.5 points.

Faith McAllister began the night with a bang, finishing 11th in the women's 100-butterfly with a finals time of :58.27, a season-best.

Kam followed that up by setting the school record in the men's 100-butterfly event. He swam a :50.55 to finish third. He was .01 back from second place. Jonathan Villa also had a great butterfly swim. The freshman finished about two seconds back from Kam and placed ninth (:52.97).

Katelyn Harper managed a top-5 finish for the ladies in one of the more strenuous events in the pool, the 400-IM. Harper placed fifth by going 4:30.04 (a four-second personal-best).

Biola had two top-15 swimmers in the ultra-competitive 200-freestyle race. Emily Silzel paced the effort with a 10th-place finish and time of 1:54.18 and then Kasidee Pascoe followed right behind in 12th-place with a 1:55.34.

The men, in a smaller race, managed two top-10 efforts in the same event. Clayton Owens posted his Biola-best time of 1:44.39 to finish sixth overall. Then Westin Dawe also managed his best time of his first year, going 1:47.88 to finish 10th.

Next up was Kam's bread and butter, the 100-breaststroke. He already broke the school record in the prelim session and was looking to do it again at night. He did. Kam went :57.29 in the finals to finish on the podium (third) and break his school record, again.

Nicole Chang is a Biola record-holder too, and on Friday she came really close to breaking one of her own records. She swam aa :58.48 for an impressive sixth-place finish in the women's 100-backstroke.

Matthew Roe was the Eagles' top representative on the other side of the 100-backstroke field. He managed the highest individual finish of the day by placing second with a time of :52.75. Clayton Owens was right behind him in third with a :53.09. A swimmer from Fresno Pacific ran away with that event finishing about four seconds faster than the rest of the field.

In the only relay of the day the men managed 54 points with a third-place mark and the women brought in 46 by finishing seventh. The guys were about a half-second out of second place behind Concordia Irvine. BU swam a 3:30.59 in the 400-medley relay.


The teams get back underway at SPLASH! Aquatic Center at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday for the final day of competition. Saturday's events include: 200-backstroke, 100-freestyle, 200-breaststroke, 200-butterfly, 100-IM, the 1,650 and 400-freestyle relay.
