LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Day one is done. Biola Swim & Dive kicked off the 2019 Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference Championships on Wednesday and saw some promising results on a short day of competition.

Relays were the primary focus on day one with both the 200-medley relay and 800-freestyle relay on the event list. Both men's relays earned top-5 finishes, helping the Eagles sit fourth at the end of day one with 131 points.

The men's 800-freestyle relay team of Clayton Owens, Andrew Holmes, Jonathan Villa and Westin Dawe put up a time of 7:06.33 to finish third behind Concordia Irvine and Fresno Pacific. The 200-medley team finished fourth with a time of 1:37.59.

Nicole Chang, Jenny London, Rachel Stinchcomb and Rebecca Brandt held it down for the women with the ladies' best relay finish of the day, a seventh-place mark of 1:47.97. The women's team sits ninth overall with 92 points after day one.

Jake Allen was Biola's only individual finisher on day one, competing in the men's 1,000-freestyle. Allen swam a season-best in that event, finishing fifth with a 10:21.49.

The teams get back underway at SPLASH! Aquatic Center at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday with prelims day two. Thursday's events include: 500-freestyle, 200-IM, 50-freestyle and 200-freestyle relay.
