LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Women's Soccer could hardly be more eager for the start of conference play. The Eagles begin their official PacWest schedule riding the momentum of four-straight clean sheets, two of which came against perennial conference contenders in Point Loma and Concordia, and back-to-back road wins that have helped pull Biola to .500 at 3-3-1.
And while the defense has been absolutely superb and deserves award recognition very soon, the Eagles have also figured out how to deliver the goals they need to play winning soccer. Biola's five goals this year have been scored by five different women. But the last four have come from put-away touches right in front of goal and the last three have involved assists from senior defender Colie Martin.
One of the scoring markers Biola will look for in its pursuit of six points this week will be scoring more than one goal in each of the two coming matches. The Eagles have made due with one goal against Point Loma and Concordia in each of their last two wins, but getting multiple goals in a single match results in nearly automatic success for Biola Women's Soccer. The team in 40-0-3 since November 1, 2013 in matches where the Eagles score two goals or more.
Speaking of impressive records for the women's soccer program, senior goalkeeper Christina Rodriguez in one clean sheet away from setting a new program record for career shutouts with 25. Rodriguez already holds the record for most shutouts in a single season with 12 in 2017 and is currently tied with Hillary Dunham (2002-05) for the career mark. But don't anticipate Rodriguez or the Eagles to rest on their laurels if that accomplishment is reached this week. The goalkeeper is only four clean sheets away from becoming the all-time shutouts leader in Biola soccer history. Men's soccer goalie Aaron Fenlason (2008-11) currently holds that distinction with 27 shutouts.

BIOLA (3-3-1) at Holy Names (0-8-1, 0-2 PacWest): Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 4 p.m.\\ Live Stats \\ Live Video
First year Head Coach Jillian Boland is still looking for her first victory with the Hawks as a coach, although she won plenty and was an all-conference defender with Holy Names at the start of this decade. Holy Names is looking to break a eight-match losing streak in which the Hawks have surrendered 25 goals. They've gone down 2-0 in each of those eight loses and are still looking for their multi-goal scorer in 2019, as the Hawks' four goals have been scored by four different women.
Biola Women's Soccer is 4-0 all-time against Holy Names and 1-0 as a visitor after defeating HNU 4-0 in 2017. The Hawks have yet to score a goal against the Eagles while Biola has scored two goals or more in all four matchups.
Thursday's match will be played at Pioneer Soccer Stadium on the campus of Cal State East Bay in Hayward, Calif. Holy Names charges $10 for general admission and $5 for minors over the age of 12.
BIOLA (3-3-1) at Domincan Penguins (3-2-3, 0-1 PacWest) : Saturday Oct. 12 at 12 p.m. \\ Live Stats \\ Live Video
Domincan leaned heavily on senior goalkeeper Alyssa Ramos during the non-conference portion of the Penguins' schedule. Ramos helped the Penguins record five shutouts to start the season to go along with two other matches in which Dominican only allowed one goal. But the attack has still been slow to get going for the Penguins. Dominican has scored three goals in a match twice, both both of those contests were played against Biola's former NAIA peers, Menlo College and William Jessup University. DU has only produced two goals in the five matches its played against NCAA DII opponents this year, with one of those scores coming in the Penguins' 3-1 loss to Point Loma this past Saturday. Dominican will travel to Fresno to face Fresno Pacific on Wednesday before hosting Biola on Saturday afternoon.
This will be Biola's first trip to San Rafeal and the Eagles' fourth meeting with Dominican Women's Soccer. Coach Brunelle's group will be looking to avenge a loss in the last meeting that came on a golden goal the Penguins scored in the literal last second of overtime. Both matches in the PacWest era have been close, as the Eagles came back from a 2-1 deficit with two second-half goals to eek out a 3-2 victory in 2017.
Dominican charges $5 for admission to soccer matches for everyone 14 years of age or older. The match will be played at Kennelly Field in San Rafael.
